Restaurant and culinary professions – an exciting and intense industry

No matter which of the restaurant and culinary professions a student chooses, working in a restaurant or pub environment is very varied and exciting, as well as intense and physically demanding. A high resistance to stress is essential and it is important to be social and service oriented.

An international career within restaurant and culinary professions

The knowledge and skills obtained through an education within the area of restaurant and culinary professions are useful no matter where in the world the successful graduate pursues a career, since the science of service is global. Students choose to study restaurant and culinary professions abroad get the opportunity to expand their horizons and get a greater understanding of cultural differences that can help develop service skills even further.

Types of restaurant and culinary professions education

International students can choose between different types and levels of restaurant and culinary professions education. Many Universities and Colleges offer academic restaurant and culinary professions bachelor and master degrees.

Diploma degrees within restaurant and culinary professions are typically more focused on developing practical skills and usually include a work placement or internship period. A diploma degree is usually shorter than a bachelor degree within the same study area. In other words, the wide variety of programmes and courses means that students can find the restaurant and culinary professions education that fits their individual needs and requirements.
