Campuses
HPU combines the excitement of an urban downtown campus with the serenity of a campus set in the green foothills of O’ahu’s Ko’olau mountains, and its aquaculture research facility, Oceanic Institute, borders the ocean.
HPU centralized campus is located in downtown Honolulu, the business and financial center of the Pacific. It feels like a charming college town, but is also steps away from the central business district, state capital, and local hospitals where students will experience hands-on learning and internship opportunities.
The Oceanic Institute (OI) of HPU has been a world leader in the advancement of sustainable aquaculture technologies and has contributed to a range of solutions to overcome current and emerging industry challenges. OI is located on a 56-acre site at Makapu‘u Point on the windward coast of O‘ahu. OI conducts research, education, and training that focuses on marine aquaculture, aquatic feeds and nutrition, and coastal resource management.
Student lifestyle
Extra and co-curricular activities are an essential part of an enriching campus life and HPU encourages students to get involved and participate in school events. Our Student Activity office provides leadership development opportunities and accommodates close to 50 clubs and organizations on-campus. It is our goal to take learning beyond the classroom and cultivate programs that lead to student success.
Campus Recreation office is excited to offer students, faculty and staff at Hawaii Pacific University many new and exciting opportunities to stay physically active. Whether its 24-hour access to the Hawaii Loa Fitness Center, intramural sports leagues/tournaments, sport club opportunities, outdoor recreational activities, fitness classes, or offering discounts throughout the Hawaii recreational community, Campus Recreation is promoting a fun and healthy balance to an academic life.

The Waterfront Lofts, HPU's on-campus housing facility, are part of the Aloha Tower Marketplace, a vibrant, mixed-use residential and commercial center designed to serve the Hawai'i community and HPU students.
- The 370-bed residential community is located on the second and third floor of the Aloha Tower Marketplace.
- The residences are comprised of single, double-, triple- and quad-occupancy bedroom options in a loft and studio units.
- On the ground floor, students have access to HPU facilities including the Learning Commons, the eSports Arena, Pier Nine by Sam Choy, multi-purpose rooms, HPU offices such as the Welcome Center, Student Activities, First-Year Experience, Housing and Residence Life, Student Government Association, and Campus Activities Board; and various retail and dining options.
- Living at the Waterfront Lofts also means easy access to many amenities, activities, and public transportation in downtown Honolulu.
Off-campus housing
Many students choose to find their own apartments and off-campus housing either before they arrive in Hawai'i, or after they arrive and have had a chance to become familiar with the local environment. The island of O'ahu offers many different living arrangements--from the fast-paced city lifestyle of Honolulu to the quiet beach town of Kailua.
Very happy with the campus. I had good courses just had the feeling some were too easy. But I think that’s the overall problem with the American school system. Not just HPU. There isn’t a lot of self-critical-thinking. The teacher says something, and that’s the fact. No space and time for reaching one owns opinions or conclusions. Great help...
