Tourism - Travel
If you are interested in a career as an airline/tour reservationist, flight attendant, cruise ship employee, tour guide, tour manager, event planner, travel counselor, hotel/ resort concierge, or any other facet of the tourism industry, this program is for you! This program will help develop skills employers are looking for in a new employee, such as communication, teamwork, computer, and customer service skills. Graduates are prepared to begin entry-level positions in a number of the travel industry sectors.
Admission requirements
OSSD with the majority of courses at the College (C), University (U), University/College (M) or Open (O) level qualify for admission to this program.
Other regions (English proficiency test required)
- High school diploma/graduation certificate and transcript or equivalent in original language and English translation.
- English proficiency requirement:
- TOEFL iBT 78 with no band lower than 20, or PBT score of 550, or CBT score of 213 / IELTS 6.0 with no band lower than 5.5, Duolingo score of 100.

Qualification
The graduate has reliably demonstrated the ability to:
- Ensure customer satisfaction by providing tourism services in a professional manner, both individually and as part of a team.
- Sell and promote tourism products and services proactively.
- Apply a knowledge of the various tourism industry sectors and their necessary interaction, both with each other and with government and other regulating bodies, in the provision of tourism products and services.
- Perform effectively, both individually and as part of a team, in the reservations function of a tourism organization.
- Prepare and issue accurately routine tickets and other travel documentation to clients.
- Access and appropriately disseminate accurate and detailed product knowledge and destination information.
- Apply clerical and organizational skills to facilitate the completion of administrative tasks.
- Apply bookkeeping and basic financial knowledge and skills, including cost control techniques, to the operation of a tourism organization.
- Develop ongoing personal professional development strategies and plans to enhance industry knowledge and leadership skills for tourism industry sectors.

After completing the two-year program, graduate job opportunities exist with airlines, airports, attractions, car rental companies, convention and meeting centres, cruise lines, government tourism offices, hotels and resorts, online travel providers, rail lines, travel agencies, tour operators and visitor information centres, among others.
