The Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM) was founded in 1968 and has two campuses, Cantoblanco and the Medical School, in northern Madrid. The Autonomous University of Madrid is organized into seven schools, which include: Arts and Philosophy, Teacher Training and Education, Economics and Business Studies, Sciences, Law, Psychology and Medicine, and the Polytechnic, as well as several services buildings; a sports complex; Music and Languages; University Residences and a Postgraduate Centre.
The campus has excellent connections with the city center, including a train station and a direct line to Puerta del Sol. All of this makes the Autonomous University of Madrid an ideal place for foreign students to experience life in one of Europe's most vibrant cities.

The Ford Foundation International Fellowship Programme created with the aim of providing access to postgraduate study programmes. The Ford Foundation International Fellowship Programme is available for nationals in any country where the IFP is implemented: Brazil, Chile, China, Egypt, Ghana, Guatemala, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Mexico, Mozambique, Nigeria, Palestine, Peru, Philippines, Russia, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, and Vietnam.
