Founded in 1993, the University of Almería (UAL) is a public higher education and research university ranked in the Top 40 nationally, and top 1000 worldwide. We offer 34 Bachelor and 44 Master Degrees, as well as 14 PhD programmes for our +14,000 students.
UAL has become an increasingly sought-after destination for international students. There are currently more than 1,100 full-degree foreign students enrolled in our programs, and more than 750 exchange students visiting us each year from more than 50 different countries.
UAL offers a full range of degrees in all branches of knowledge: Business and Law, Education, Engineering, Health Sciences, Languages and Philosophy, and Science. In addition to two Masters fully delivered in English, all our programs feature English language courses and components.
UAL’s is the only Spanish campus facing the Mediterranean Sea. Its 52 hectares and 35 buildings feature everything students need, including a recently built sports centre, library, blocks of lecture rooms, cafeterias, language centre, labs and research institutes, and many other facilities. Housing range includes several options, from a room in a shared flat with fellow students can (starting at 150€) to an all-included single room in the CIVITAS Student Hall of Residence.
UAL also offers a wide variety of training workshops, cultural and sporting activities, and internship opportunities at local companies, which makes easier for foreign students to become part of our community.
UAL is just 15 minutes far from the town of Almería (or 20, if you prefer to use the bicycle lane along the seafront). Ours is a small city of 250,000 people, with a beautiful and safe environment where you can enjoy a great quality of life and mild weather all year through. The surrounding region offers an extraordinarily rich environment, from the Natural Park of Cabo de Gata (the largest coastal protected area in south Spain) to the mountain ranges of Las Alpujarras, in the slopes of Sierra Nevada.

The professors are very professional and passionate about their subjects. The classes are always interesting. As an Erasmus student, I felt very welcome at UAL and I really feel like I learned new things.
