BSc in Tourism

This fully accredited and highly reputed bachelor of science in tourism program at the University of Applied Sciences of the Grisons has an extensive network of partner companies and universities, giving students ample opportunities during and after their studies. 

The BSc in tourism places value on an integrated education in tourism, focusing on international tourism and leisure management. It prepares students to undertake qualified specialist functions in the tourism, leisure, and service industries.

Majors of the tourism program

Students of the BSc in tourism may choose to major in: eCommerce and Sales in Tourism, Event Communication, Leadership and Change, Marketing and Product Development in Tourism or Sustainable Tourism and International Development

Accreditation

The study course "Bachelor of Science FHGR in Tourism" is recognized by the Swiss Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs, Education and Research (Eidg. Volkswirtschaftsdepartement).

Admission requirements

Applicants wishing to apply for the tourism program should meet the following requirements:

  • Diploma of secondary education (e.g. Swiss Matura, British A-Levels [3], US High School Diploma
  • Academic knowledge of accounting
  • English certificate level B2, IELTS 6, TOEFL (IB) 87
  • 12 months of documented work experience in commercial or tourism business

Tourism is an international growth industry with a continually increasing demand for professionalism. Students graduating from the tourism program have a strong foundation to face these challenges and are characterized by a high degree of customer-orientation and service commitment. Graduates will find positions in expert and leadership functions in local and international travel, leisure, transport, event and sport corporations where they develop and market new products, organize cultural and sporting events or manage whole tourism destinations.

Tuition

Students from Switzerland or Liechtenstein (Residence of at least 2 years prior to the start of the programme):

  • Tuition per semester: CHF 960.-
  • Application fee*: CHF 300.-

Students from EU and EFTA Countries:

  • Tuition per semester: CHF 1'550.-
  • Application fee*: CHF 300.-

The local administrative district allows employment up to a maximum of 15 hours per week when in possession of a specific permit and 42 hours per week during the holidays.

*The application fee is charged upon confirmation of a study place and is non-refundable. The application fee will be deduced from the first semester tuition fee.

Students from non-EU and non-EFTA Countries:

  • Tuition per semester: CHF 1'550.-
  • Application fee: CHF 300.-
  • Deposit: CHF 3'000.-

The local administration prohibits all forms of employment for students from non-EU and non-EFTA countries. The application fee is CHF 300.– and is due upon confirmation of a study place and is non-refundable if our offer is not accepted. The application fee will be deducted from the tuition fee. A deposit of CHF 3 000.- will be refunded at the end of the programme if all bills are paid. Based on a bank receipt and a guarantee of sufficient means for the costs of living to the amount of CHF 12 000, the visa process can be started.

The study fees do not include textbooks, study materials, and fees associated with thesis writing, block weeks, and excursions, e.g. travel and accommodation. Students must possess a laptop.
