There is clear synergy between tourism and hospitality management. Hospitality is a core element of the visitor experience, and a critical component of the tourism sector facilitating overnight stays within a destination. Therefore an understanding of the form, function and operational characteristics of the hospitality sector is an important pre-requisite for destination managers. The University has established links with the local hospitality industry through connections with Visit Chichester, as well as nationally through consultancy. This provides a basis for delivering an applied and industry-focused programme. An applied delivery style, supported by the practitioner status of academic staff will give graduates a distinct advantage when competing for graduate jobs or placements in the hospitality and events sector.
