Welcome to the University of Manitoba - Western Canada's first university. Founded 140 years ago, and located in the heart of the country, it is the region’s largest and only research-intensive university offering over 100 academic programs, including professional disciplines such as medicine, law and engineering. The energetic university community is comprised of close to 30,000 students, over 8,900 faculty and staff, and 138,000 alumni in 137 countries. Over 16 per cent of current students are international, representing 115 countries.
The University of Manitoba is located on Anishinabe and Metis traditional land and is home to a thriving community of Indigenous researchers, staff and more than 2,000 First Nations, Metis and Inuit students, including over 3,580 graduate students — one of the largest Indigenous student bodies in the country.

In addition to two main campuses — Fort Garry and Bannatyne — the University of Manitoba has multiple satellite sites throughout the province and research settings around the world. The University features new, modern facilities complemented by historic buildings that have defined the campus for more than a century. Accommodation
On-campus housing is more than just a place to live while studying at the University of Manitoba. You’ll be engaged through unique programs and opportunities that emphasize academic and social growth, diversity, wellness, leadership and community building.
Each year, over 1,350 students get the full benefit of the university experience by living on the UM campus. Each residence has its own unique atmosphere based on the interests of the students who live there.
